What Celebrity Children Are Wearing as if You Cared About That Sort of Thing
CMP is happy to present the first of our monthly looks at What Celebrity Children Are Wearing as if You Cared About That Sort of Thing. Photo courtesy of our friends at Celebrity Baby Blog, who accomplish the remarkable feat of writing thousands of posts about celebrities without one iota of snark. (How do they do it? We must know!)
Here Zahara Jolie-Pitt wears (gasp) a hand me down Black Sabbath tee from her brother Maddox. And not some lame kiddie version that says Block Sabbath spelled out on wooden blocks, but the real-ish deal.
The limited edition Trunk Black Sabbath tee, just like Zahara's but in black, is available at tutti bella. Warning: You might need Ozzy's royalty checks to get one at $50. Although it's a bargain next to the Skynyrd tees which are 70 bucks. For that price shouldn't you get a concert ticket thrown in?
If you've got other headbanging bands occupying a place in your heart, babesta is always one of our first stops with shirts featuring AC/DC and Alice Cooper.
Psychobaby is another great shop, carrying Rowdy Sprout's soft distressed raglans that honor hairsprayed legends Kiss and Aerosmith.
Whichever band tee you've got your eye on, just remember the rule of celebrity wardrobe mimickry: Always swear that you got yours first.
Fans of her books: The NY Times, The Museum of Modern Art gift shop, and the CMP editors' children.
Fatherly inspiration: "My father was a photographer at the tail end of the Korean War and I grew up looking at his large format prints of Korean cities and war gear. My first camera was his beat up old Kodak Retina 3C camera, which I still have. I started taking pictures around age 10 and never stopped."
Child-ly inspiration: "My books never would have happened without the arrival of Hugo. The original idea for ABC NYC came because I was teaching him the alphabet. I was feeling creatively repressed as a sleep-deprived newish mother and needed to do something other than change diapers and prep sippy cups. I started shooting images of letters from the signage of the city and Hugo joined the hunt."
Kids say the darndest things: "With 123 NYC Hugo got a lot more involved in the content of the book and could tell me what he liked and didn't like. He's quite the editor."
And they say New Yorkers are rude: "I loved walking up to people and asking them if I could take a picture of their shoe for the #10 spread (ten shoes) in the counting book. No one said no!"
Any advice on shooting children?: "Shoot, shoot, shoot. People ask me how I manage to take such good pictures. My answer is that I also take a lot of bad ones."
In Case You Missed It: Staff Picks for June
I'm head over heels for the ABC's of Chinese Provinces from Stephanie Wise's Adoption Art collection. And it's not just because I'm Chinese myself. What a special way to honor an adoptee's culture, or introduce it to your 1/4 Chinese daughter. -Kristen
As a newly environmentally-conscious shopper, I'm excited about the line of organic bedding from Pixel Organics. And my daughter will undoubtedly approve of the pink hearts, ponies, and flowers on their Lovelines pattern. -Nancy
How much do I love the custom mid-century toy box from Mod Mom Furniture? I ordered my own, and am eagerly waiting for its arrival this week. Clean floors at last: Wishful thinking? -Liz
My cute designer baby bag looked great with an infant, weird with a toddler, and I'm still trying to find the fine balance between being prepared and being a pack mule. I think the Haiku To-Go Bag from Itty Bitty Lady Bug might be just the ticket. -Laura
We just have to give a special staff shout-out to the onesies from Ooh La La Mama - judging from overwhelming reader response, you're in love with the original designs as much as we are. The hardest part is picking just one. So why limit yourself? -Staff
The biggest challenge after having my daughter is getting out of the house with all my belongings (and my sanity.) That's why I love the Cool Essentials Parent Organizer--just strap it onto your stroller and have a place for everything. - Tina
Invite my kid to your kid's birthday party, and I promise I'll send along a fabulous present. And with a set of kid styled gift enclosures from Lauren Goessling Designs, I'll even include a card to complete the package. -Julie
