We've still got another week of those proverbial April showers, but considering the April we've had so far, I'm banking on those downpours well into May. And this year (for a change), my older daughter is prepared, armed with a... ... [More]
Now kids everywhere have an excellent reason to go all Jackson Pollack on their white shoes.

We realize that baby booties are a frivolous purchase for a cute little lump who doesn't do much more than poop and sleep (or if you're my kids, not sleep). So that's why you don't buy them for your own baby. You get other people to get them for you.

I'm willing to dive into my sandal stash the second the mercury creeps above 50. But since this is my son's first Spring as a walker, I've got no such stash for him to speak of.

Let's continue what is fast becoming Kids Shoes Month at CMP. We have been bowled over by the number of far too cute footwear options for people far too little to appreciate such deliciousness.

My little 10 month-old track star can do about a 6 minute mile on hands and knees, if only she's got the right traction. So who am I to hold her back?

I probably sound like an old fuddy-duddy everytime I go shopping for my kids, but when I see "Chick-magnet" shirts and too-short mini skirts that look like something right off an adult rack, I can't help but cringe a little.
The powers that be at Robeez must have heard my pleas, since their new Tredz line, launching today, is perfect for those little walkers and runners who are ready to venture outside, needing a non-slip, water-resistant and extremely flexible sole.

BABY CLOTHESKristen: Maybe it's because my husband and I are both avid guitar players, or because it's one of the most amazing shirts I've ever seen. But either way, Damestarbaby's handsewn guitar tee has won my heart. Liz: The cozy sweatshirt-styled... ... [More]
I absolutely cannot wait for the first snowfall this year. I am so looking forward to walking around the streets of New York, capturing my baby daughter's reaction to the beautiful sparkling snowflakes for the first time. Well, that, and there's also there's the matter of the shoes.
You might think that baby shoes made to order are merely something just for the rich. Allow me to correct that misperception.

I, sadly, don't have unlimited funds to set my toddler up with one pair of shoes in every color for every occasion. (Oh, the tragedy of it all.) So what I try to do is find something cute that she can wear with dresses, but also lets her kick up the asphalt on the playground.

Moms of summer babies are lucky in that they don't have to think about shoes. They can just leave those sweet, fat little tootsies bare for all the world to squeeze.

If you're a die-hard Robeez fan (me! me!) then I bet you've collected every dog, cat, and train design they offer. But if you've admired the function and fit of the shoes while waiting for some alternative designs, then stop tapping your foot and grab your wallet.

Only two minutes of searching the web for baby shoes for my newly crawling little man of the house and I'm drowning in a sea of leather booties. Love leather booties, but isn't there something different out there?

With two little girls, I've got boxes full of dress-up clothes for rainy days. Fringed flapper dresses, feather boas, and sequinned high heels - they've got it all. But why should girls have all the fun?

All the 3-going-on-14 little girl's clothes have forced me to become a traditionalist when it comes to dressing my daughter. I'm into the fairly standard tops, bottoms, and dresses -- no ridiculous mini skirts or shiny half-shirts for my toddler. But when it comes to shoes, I like to live on the wild side.

In the spring, a mother's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of... shoes, of course! I love browsing the ballet flats and strappy sandals available for my little girls. But I get tired of the selection at my local big box store, and don't like paying the extra bucks for shoes adorned with the latest TV character du jour.

We know there's no shortage of leather baby booties on the market these days -- all of which are terribly cute and perfect for those crawlers and early-walkers. But if you're looking for a shoe that no one else in the playgroup is likely to have, you might give Cute Baby Shoes a try.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to dressing babies: No jewelry, no fancy hats, and no booties. My girls didn't wear shoes until they could walk, and I still grin at the professional portraits we have of them with bare toes peeking out from underneath their dresses.

With a baby born smack-dab in the middle of a hot Mississippi summer, there was nary a pair of booties to be found in my house. But when I discovered I was having a January baby this time around, up in the Northeast no less, you better believe the first thing I did was search for some fantastic footwear.
I think that most every girl dreams of being a ballerina at some point. I did, even as I was rolling in mud puddles or pummeling a soccer ball. I confess in fact that I still harbor fantasies of a steamy pas de deux with Baryshnikov.
Oh, Misha. If only.

It's February which means at long last, I can start counting the minutes until I have my family intact on Sundays again. Of course it's only a matter of weeks until I trade my football widow status for my golf widow status. And sadly, that's not limited to one day a week.
Unless it's time for soccer practice, my daughter won't get near a pair of sneakers. With her active day at preschool in mind, I try to persuade her to try on funky hi-tops or sporty slip-ons, but she always gravitates toward the sparkly, princessy shoes. Finding something we both like is a minor miracle.

Nowhere in the parenting manual did I find a chapter on a child's inability to feel cold. How could I have known that a kid can have purple lips and six frostbitten toes and yet when there's still winter fun to be had, you'll have to drag him, kicking and screaming, inside to sit by a warm radiator?

Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder how a former Doc Maarten-wearing, black lipstick-owning alternachick looks just so...mom. While I'm not going back to those styles any time soon, at least I have a baby to project them onto. That's why I love the rockin' tartan baby booties from Babesta, an online boutique that can easily outfit the most trendsetting tot with innovative duds from independent artisans. Just our kind of place.

As a friend of several vegans, I know how challenging it can be for them to find acceptable shoes, let alone ones for their kiddos. And while the soft-soled booties seem to be the way to go, the leather obviously presents a problem. Isabooties to the rescue.

If I see another baby wearing those ubiquitous soft-leather soled shoes, I may lose it. Sure the fairy princesses and blue songbirds are kind of cute, but let's face it, they're getting overplayed.
