The official start of summer is just around the corner and that means time for playgrounds, parks, and that very first picnic, one of our very favorite rites of passage for new babies. (We've been through quite a few of those, so we know.)
But before you pack up your entire kitchen in the trunk of the car and cram your basket full of goodies you might not need--or eat-- here are our tips for having a successful picnic with your little one. And of course, some cute looks for those picnic-perfect pics.
I like to think of myself as a closet crafter, someone who secretly loves DIY projects but can never find the time to do them. Well, now that my kids are almost out of school for the summer, I'm determined to roll up my sleeves with them, and I found just the book to help me do it.

Our hearts are so heavy with the news of the devastation caused by yesterday's tornadoes in Oklahoma. Along with keeping those affected in our thoughts, we have pulled together a list of resources that will bring much-needed help, both now and in the near future.

I've always loved peppering my daughters' wardrobes with just a few special handmade pieces from indie artists, from Courtney Chu to Ses Petites Mains and Baby Bean. Not only do they freshen up an otherwise ordinary wardrobe of leggings, tunics and tees, I find they are constructed amazingly well. When my two girls are done with them, Kristen's younger daughters get a care package!
I have a special place in my heart for wooden bowls. My Eastern European grandmother used to make these beautiful and elaborate green salads and serve them to us in small wooden bowls, so I've been looking for bowls that remind me of my sweet Bubbie ever since...to no avail. Until now.
Why I didn't think to look to Etsy is beyond me.
Our neighborhood pool opens at the end of this week (whoo!), so I'm busy tracking down stylish, swim trunks for my son that will last us all summer long. While last week we found some great swimsuits for girls, for those of you with a boy like me, here are some of my favorite boys' swim picks for the upcoming pool days and beach trips in your near future.
Here are 5 of our favorite tech picks from this week just in case you missed them.

2. You won't believe what this gadget does to your Android phone!
3. Big news for Amazon Kindle owners, especially if you like a good deal.
4. A bluetooth hat. Yes, they actually make one. And we found it.
5. Such a smart space saver for any home office.
It's pretty well established at this point that we curvy girls are ever grateful for the wrap dress as a wardrobe staple. And now when those curves extend (and extend and extend) to your baby bump, there's a cool maternity dress that will get you through months of pregnancy and back down again.
Twenty years after my own Bat Mitzvah, the world now caters to the preteen universe in ways it never did. Still, finding the right gift for a young adult's special occasion can be tricky in a market that usually consists of accessories that are overly mature, overly expensive, or just...uh, not very nice.
There are some companies out there that do get it right though, and Rucakids is one of them.
