It's National Hat Day! Why not celebrate with a new hat?

Patouche Athena bonnetCover your noggins, people! It's Hat Day, a tragically overlooked holiday, in my opinion. Here it is, January 15. And to my knowledge, there have been exactly zero fez parties planned, zero berets exchanged, and zero Viking helmet cards sent. A crying shame, particularly given how much we here at CMP like hats, hats, and more hats.

And so in honor of National Hat Day, I'm going to let you in on two little hat secrets of mine. I'm talking hats so spectacular, you will get stopped in the streets daily by people wanting to know where you got them.

Wildhagen hat

I'm smitten with these hats designed and made in Canada--they know their toques up there, all right. A gorgeous wool topper from Wildhagen, a shop based in Toronto, is my go-to hat every winter. These hats are extraordinary. Not only does the wool mean they are super-warm in even the coldest weather, but the designs are unique and so bold I really do have people asking me about mine all the time. Wildhagen hats are definitely for the days you want to stand out from the crowd.

Say you want to top a toddler's tousled head on this most special of days, too? Then the adorable woolly bonnets from Patouche will be right up your alley.

Patouche Petit Souris hat

The new Greek Helmet series is so stylish and modern (in its own ancient way, of course). I love the Athena bonnet (above) dearly. The animal bonnets also make my heart melt. In fact, my littlest rocks a Petit Souris bonnet of his very own. Seriously, if you're looking for the cutest hat in the world, you've found it.

So there you go. A brand new holiday to recognize each year. And if you're ahead of the curve and have been celebrating Hat Day for years? Well, then, I tip my hat to you...and will expect an invitation to the fez party in 2014. -Stephanie S.

Cover your little one's noggin with a woolly bonnet from Patouche. And if you need a warm and toasty Wildhagen hat of your very own (trust me, you do), their online shop isn't open yet, so your best bet is to contact them directly or find them on Facebook.
