Buy one, gift one, make someone's day: kindness comes in travel size
We adore this new trend of "buy one, donate one" products, in the model of
TOMS Shoes. And now there's one more, from a mom of two who took a personal tragedy and turned it into a truly inspiring company.
After the near-drowning of her three-year-old son, Laura Metro founded
WINK (When In Need of Kindness), a buy-one-give-one toiletry bag company.
When you buy one of her gorgeous toiletry bags, a similar one will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms. As Laura writes, "When a parent is in those rooms, things are not good." These toiletry bags help bring a little bit of normal to parents when they need it most.
The retail version of the bag looks gorgeous: simple, pretty, and elegant enough that it might even be used as a fold-over clutch. Made from Dacron--the material used for boat sails--the on-trend chevron bag will also be incredibly durable and easy to clean. Inside, you'll find three luxury toiletry items: a surprise, but one guaranteed to make you happy.
As for the donated bags, they'll include more necessities over luxuries.
It sounds like a lovely gift for a mother, sister or teacher in your life this holiday season. Help WINK reach its goal for 2012 by giving the gift of kindness. -

What a fantastic idea! I spent a lot of time at Ronald McDonald House growing up (I had a terminally ill cousin) and it truly is a fantastic program! Thanks for sharing!
