Breaking news: Trader Joe's and Sunland peanut butter recall expands *Now updated
Please see update at bottom for additional recallsCheck your pantries, mamas! The recall of New Mexico-based Sunland Inc. peanut butter sold at Trader Joe's has now been expanded to 76 types of products, including almond butter, cashew butter, and tahini.
The original recall was for Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter due to numerous salmonella illnesses across 18 states, however, additional products that are made on the same equipment by Sunland Inc. have now also been voluntarily recalled, including Archer Farms (sold at Target) and Harry & David. The good news is that none of the other products have been linked to illnesses at this time.
We strongly suggest you take a look at the extensive list of recalled products on Sunland's website [PDF] and check to make sure you aren't using any of them, especially if you've got kids like ours who live on nut butter sandwiches for lunch. Stay safe! -Kristen

ADDED 10/12/12: Several Justin's products have been added to the recall list. They are voluntarily recalled out of precaution and no illnesses have been reported. Only peanut butter products are included, not almond butters. Please see the site for specific details.

Wow, that's a TON of recalled products. As soon as I heard about this recall, I told a friend who shops there. They've already returned all Trader Joe's peanut butter related items to the store.
