3 affordable hostess gifts that make a sweet impresssion long after you're gone

With summer coming to a close (noooo!) a lot of us are planning last minute weekends and cramming in final visits to see friends and take advantage of those lake house invitations. On
Pinterest, we have an entire board featuring wonderful, varied
hostess gift ideas. And here are three more ideas that really are just for the hostess. (You can always hit her kids up with something else.)
I love the idea of giving things that smell beautiful--especially if you're traveling with kids or pets. Plus, she'll be able to remember your visit long even when your wet towels on the doorknobs are a distant memory.
For the Traditionalist
The Thymes
is always one of my very favorite sources for thoughtful gifts for the
ladyfolk--and even for myself. They make gorgeous home fragrance mists,
diffusers, candles and lotions in really wonderful scents. I've always
been a fan of the fresh, herbal
Rosemary Sage (I own a lot of votives) but I'm so happy they have a new scent in
Kimono Rose which is feminine, but subtle and not cloying at all thanks to a hint of citrus. The packaging of the
Kimono Rose candle (at top) is gorgeous and the votive glass itself even more so.
There's also a terrific
hand soap/hand lotion set for the bathroom or kitchen; and an entire
limited edition Thymes gift set should your hostess require a wee bit more pampering. Best of all: that set is under $30.
For the Woman in Touch with her ChakrasThe aromatherapy drops from
21 Drops
are just yummy. Scents like Calm, Equalize, and Uplift are perfect as a
gift she might not buy herself--although depending how close a friend
she is, you can serve up De-stress or uh, Hangover. Especially if she's
known for making killer margaritas.
For the Modern Beauty Maven
No one doesn't like
Bliss products.
The formulations are outstanding and I never mind when the packaging is
left out on top of the linen cabinet or the side of the sink.
While I've been a diehard devotee to their
Lemon-Sage body butter for ages, their brand new
Blood Orange + White Pepper scent is to die for. It's not sweet like a kid's orange bath item (thank goodness) and I'm really liking the
Body Lotion which is now on sale at 2 for $49 or get 2 of the
Soapy Suds very grownup body soap for $25.20--or hey, get one of each.
(And psst...don't get the cellulite cream unless you know her really
really well.) -
