Amazing kids' craft kits that we might steal ourselves

Kid Made Modern craft kitsThis past week on a trip with a few families, I was so glad we had a few little art projects for rainy days or just quiet (forced) downtime. If you're not familiar with Todd Oldham's awesome craft collection, Kid Made Modern, it's a wonderful one-stop-shop for that kind of stuff.

Plus now, Target has a whole Kid Made Modern craft collection with some really creative, affordable ideas that expand the collection.

I feel like a kid in a candy store browsing the Kid Made Modern craft kits--from basics like glitter paints, gorgeous colored pencils and even duct tape with fun patterns, to complete kits to make your own comic books, beaded jewelry, or picture frames.

But I really got excited when I saw all the great items featuring illustrations from Charley Harper who we've loved for ages.

The Charley Harper dinosaur craft kit lets kids punch out the wood dinosaur figures, paint with the included acrylics and set them up to stand. Or roar. Or eat each other (most likely option).  The age reco is 6+ but my 5 year old would be furious if she couldn't participate too.

There's also a Charley Harper bird painting kit, which looks beautiful, and a Charley Harper paint-by-number kit which is always as fun for my kids now as it was for me when I was doing them.

Just keep in mind that some of these projects travel better than others. I fear the frames could get a little demolished on the suitcases back home, but I'd take the beads, colored pencils, or the painting kits to a lake house in a second. -Liz
