Long ago, before everything had a battery, lights, and played annoying music of some kind, kids actually had to power their own toys. And as much as I have an appreciation for power toys in my arsenal of parenting tricks, I just love a simple wooden toy with a string. The vintage pink elephant wooden pull toy at New Arrivals Inc. would make such a lovely baby shower or new baby gift. Until the little one's old enough to play with it, I'd pop it on a shelf as a decoration. Then if your kids are anything like mine, they'll spend tons of time pushing it around until they can get up and pull him, at which point you'll come to love the sound of the creaking wheels rolling along your floor.

I remember those. I used to like making them when I was 8. And since I still tinker with woodwork when I can squeeze the time, they still fascinate me. Thanks for this... thinking about becoming a kid again and making them for kids on my island.
