My kids have always been fascinated by maps and globes, which I think is great. One of my greatest dreams is to raise children who love travel. So we love looking for postcards, artwork, and books that commemorate some of the places we've been. But I haven't seen anything like this incredible papercut art.
Layered papercut art from Crafterall would be cool if you don't even realize they're topographical maps and not abstractions.
above. I like the ones with more color and more layers (you can
choose from 20 palettes), but there are some quietly lovely two-color
pieces as well, all made from the same excellent quality card stock. Find More: Art+Decor (Sounds Fancy)

I think this is a marvelous idea for helping your child learn to read maps, and especially contour maps.
I am so glad to see this artist recognized on such a popular site. I bought a custom piece from her Etsy shop a little over a year ago, as a gift for my parents. She created a map of the lake my family has gone to all of my life.
She is just incredibly nice and easy to deal with, and her work is stunningly beautiful. Her piece hangs in our lake house, and every visitor stops to stare at it and ask about it. Gorgeous.
