Glove love

It feels like only yesterday that I was making excuses for forgetting the kids' sunscreen, and now I'm making excuses for forgetting the kids' gloves. It's the season for cold fingers, at least in my neck of the woods, and gloves make a great last minute stocking stuffer--or gift--maybe even for yourself?

If you haven't yet found the perfect hand warmers, and want something a little more unique than the $4.99 poly-blend special from a street vendor, here are just a few cute gloves that have caught my eye, all under $40.

 

The wool-cashmere girls' gloves from Jacadi are elegant enough for Sunday brunches or dress-up visits with Grandma. And the sweet little bow on the back means you can call them "her Madeline gloves" and know they'll always get worn. ($35 at Jacadi)

For adults who want to feel like Madeline too, I love these Foggy Day in Prague Gloves with the great bow to accent the bold red. If you prefer Scottland to Prague check out the beige and tartan gloves in the same style. (On sale $29.99 at Modcloth)

The buttoned keyhole gloves at Fred Flare are pretty funky, and they come in red, black or this pretty light gray. I don't know that they're made for snowball throwing, but at this price, I'd grab a few for cooler days. (on sale for $7.99 at Fred Flare; free shipping for a limited time)

If you can still go fingerless with your gloves (I'm looking at you, Carolinas) the hand knit fingerless gloves from CMP favorite Shokay are exquisite. They're all hand-knit from yak down (which is a lot like cashmere) and a bamboo blend, and profits help impoverished communities.  ($30 from Shokay)

These velvety, silly, leopard gloves are a little goofy and a lot of fun--a subtle way to wear this season's trendy animal prints, without looking like a Real Housewife of New Jersey exploded all over you. Great price too. ($10.50 on sale at Kohls)

For the traditionalist, these handmade, handspun angora-merino gloves from a mom/pop Etsy shop look cozy and beautiful. I love that the angora comes from rabbits raised in organic conditions, and they seem so lovingly made. ($39 at From Silk Road)
