We are honored to once again be working with our sponsor, the American Cancer Society, on their More Birthdays campaign since if we could make one really big wish, it'd that cancer never steals someone from us again. 1. Ask for donations instead of gifts
3. Set up a card-making stationFind More: Causes and General Do-Gooding, Party Time!

We did a book party when my daughter turned 3. We asked everyone to bring a book rather than a gift and they were donated to charity. The rest of the party was book themed. Here's a link.

I think these are great ideas to help give back and as a cancer mom, I thank you. However, as a cancer mom, I do not like the ACS. I'm sure as you are aware September was childhood cancer awareness month, yet there was no mention of it anywhere on there site. Childhood cancer tends to take a backseat with the ACS to all other cancers and they only give 3% of their donations to childhood cancer research. That's for all of the childhood cancers, which there are multiple, not just one. If people want to donate for childhood research they are better to do so to Cure Search, Alex's Lemonade Stand, or St. Baldrick's where the money goes directly to childhood cancer research. Again, I thank you for the support and appreciate what you are trying to do. :)
Book parties are nice, Book Aid Plan an organization for which I volunteer will send books to children or literacy programs. We exist since 1949, collect books (also through our amazon wish list) and funds. We ship worldwide and each book makes a huge difference in people's lives!
