Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones and Piperlime partner up for charity

Gretchen Jones jewelry for Piperlime I have always loved wearing jewelry with a story behind it, and I've never really been a fan of the mass produced status pieces that everyone else and her mother is sporting too. So naturally I was thrilled to hear about Piperlime's new partnership with Project Runway season 8 winner, jewelry designer Gretchen Jones, that just launched today.

For a limited time, the popular shopping destination and the now Brooklyn-based artist are offering an exclusive line of jewelry with 100% of profits going to Aid to Artisans, a wonderful and necessary charity devoted to providing economic opportunities to help artisans worldwide.

This not-for-profit collection by Gretchen of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings includes 14 chunky, modern pieces all handmade by artists at the Ipuna Artisan Workshop in Bogota, Colombia. I love the strong current ring (shown), inspired by the Egyptian pyramids, and etched with magical symbols for wisdom, protection and good luck. The clean geometric styles should complement just about anything in your wardrobe while channeling your inner Joan Jett (or your own rockstar alter ego).

I love how Piperlime has been seeking out lesser-known designers and introducing them to an audience who would be otherwise unaware but is bound to love them. (Not that Gretchen is lesser-known to those PR fans!) Lets hope some other large shopping sites take a note. - Stephanie M

The Gretchen Jones for Piperlime collection is priced between $48-$120. View the designs and watch the behind the scenes video of the artists at work at piperlime
