Designer inspiration, if not designer purchases

Nima Taherzadeh bow sleeve jacketSince having kids, my insatiable hunger for all things art, fashion, and design has been unsatisfied. And rightfully so. I barely have time to eat an actual breakfast, let alone devour the piles of magazines I once looked to for inspiration for my spending habits.

But then I discovered the gorgeous offerings at AHAlife, and I felt a little bit of the old me was awakened

The site features one amazing product that's up for purchase for just 24 hours - all lifestyle goodies, all united in being exceptionally cool. Think meticulously curated boutique where you might not necessarily be able to afford everything ($750 clock? $1495 designer coat? Hmmm, not so much...) but the stories and beauty of the pieces make you feel cooler just knowing about them. Each day a new item is featured, and then archived for you to search through.

While I can't say I'll be making a slew of purchases from AHAlife, I just love how it's made to create and support a community, through bringing the work of these talented artisans to the forefront. And also, that it allows you, the member, the chance to act as a curator and suggest products you deem worthy of being featured.

Plus I admit, it's nice to have a break from the kid stuff and the bargain brands, even if it's just for a few moments. -Kristen

Neat site. I found this bag (http://www.ahalife.com/archive/product/22/large-tote-and-wristlet/) from the Nomi Network that helps women and girls who were once sexual slaves. According to the blurb about the bag: "UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children, most of them girls, are trafficked into sexual slavery each year. That works out to about two children being trafficked every minute. All day, every day of the year." $75 seems doable to help a woman or child rebuild her life.
