The Perfect Back to School Bag -- for Mom

Eva Satchel by Ellington BagsI love the back-to-school rush -- the shopping and planning and anticipation. But because I both have boys and send my kids to a school with uniforms, I always wind up feeling a little short changed in the back-to-school shopping arena.

For me, fall meant new shoes and a new bag, always. In fact, I still typically treat myself to a new bag when school starts, just because.

This year, I'm totally coveting the Eva Satchel from Ellington, in Italian leather. I have professed my love before for Ellington's bags; they are beautifully made and well designed and will withstand even the roughest treatment. (But really, be nice to your bag; it deserves it.)

Cool Mom Picks Pick of the Year 2010The Eva Satchel is large enough to work as a diaper bag or laptop bag, but not so huge that it couldn't work as your everyday handbag. The adjustable strap means that you can carry it over your shoulder or wear it across your body, while the three outside zipper pockets make keeping track of your cell phone and keys a breeze. Plus the leather is butter soft.

Seriously, you will not be able to keep your hands off this bag. I promise.

Plus, the colors are beautiful; I really want the purple, but that apple green is nice, and the red would be great with fall's neutrals. It's going to be hard to decide. Too bad I can't just get one of each. -Susan

Ellington's Eva Satchel retails for $159, which is a steal for a bag this nice. Check out their full line of totes and satchels at EllingtonHandbags.com.

I LOVE this. I'm looking at potential diaper bags and I really like this in gunmetal. VERY nice. Thanks for the info!

The green version is calling my name! And butter-soft leather bag for $160 is a decent price especially since I can see myself using this daily. Thanks for sharing!

Very cute bags. How about a suggestion for a backpack style bag for moms? I realize that's not the MOST fashionable choice, but moms often need to be 100% hands free. At least I prefer a backpack when out on excursions with the kids. Plus, when I'm heading to work in the winter, my shoulder bags are CONSTANTLY slipping off of my coat-covered shoulders while I trek to the train. Something big enough to hold a very small laptop computer would be ideal. Thank you, thank you if you are able to help!

We found a couple here, Kate:

(Look at the last couple of recos in the post).

Either of those suit you?

I love this as a bag and diaper bag..super bag. Especially in red for fall.

Thanks for the info!

I love it. Love the color and the design plus the size too. Perfect!
