Been Caught Squealing

Back in the day, sweaty dancing to live music, singing loudly and staying up too late was a given during my annual pilgrimage to the Lollapalooza music festival. I've had to tone things down a bit now that my hearing is shot, my bedtime is before 10 and the kids are old enough to understand the lyrics to my music. But, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the new
Kidzapalooza CD captures a lot of Lolla's spirit and fun, minus the beer and tattooed guy who eats light bulbs.
As with the
live Kidzapalooza show,
Mr. Lollapalooza, Perry Farrell, helps to keep the mix of songs here eclectic, like when he teams up with Deborah Harry on
The Patience Bossa. CMP faves
The Jimmies,
Secret Agent 23 Skidoo,
Lunch Money and
Candy Band also rock this CD out as you'd expect; more surprising were the tender songs that offered us a chance to kick back and catch our breath like
Back In The Day by Zach Gill and
Spring has Sprung by
Frances England. And I am almost embarrassed at how much I love
Nicky Nicky Knock Knock by
The Dream Jam Band which I've downloaded to my ipod for, um, the kids.
If we lived anywhere near Chicago, you can bet I'd be driving to the live
Kidzapalooza show in early August. Again, you know, for the kids. -
