Photo Stamps Make Envelopes as Awesome as the Announcements Inside

Little known geeky fact about me: I've collected stamps since I was my daughter's age. Before you question my credibility where it comes to finding cool picks for fabulous moms, check out PhotoStamps at Stamps.com, where geeky philatelists and devoted moms find common ground  with actual PO-approved stamps you can customize yourself. It's not new, but I'm just now finding out what all the fuss is about--and kicking myself for having not given it a shot sooner.

The process is ridiculously simple: Upload that money shot of your kiddo, zoom in or out, center it, and place your order. You'll get a sheet of self-stick stamps emblazoned with a familiar adorable face. You do have to pay a little extra beyond the face value of the postage, so don't use them to pay your electric bill. Use them on invitations, holiday cards or thank you notes, or try Liz's super-cool idea: Take an artsy pic of the new baby's foot and put it on the envelopes for your birth announcements.

I love the idea that you don't have to wait for your kid to become an Olympic athlete or the next incarnation of Elvis to get his mug on a stamp. Maybe that's kind of geeky but that's also pretty darn cool. -Julie
