I first met Beth Miles, the designer behind San Francisco's Ses Petites Mains label earlier in the year at a trade show, and instantly fell in love. Not with Beth per se--although she is cute--but with her absolutely inspired kids clothes.
Ses Petites Mains updates classics with inventive, playful details and beyond yummy fabrics. But despite the high-fashion sensibility, they're totally wearable. As all kids clothes should be.
You'll find a great selection at Orange Button, including plaid skirts and apron dresses, along with a feminine striped boatneck top that's one of the best values of the line at $38. But I think it's the Coco Jacket (shown here) in a delicious pomegranate velveteen cord that I really want for my daughter this season. The details are just amazing, including a hood that falls beautifully down the back when not keeping the leaves out of their hair.
Admittedly the jacket will fall into the Special Occasion Clothes category for most moms. I say button that kid of yours up in it and make every day a special occasion. Life's too short to live in windbreakers. -Liz
